Writing, Editing, Agents, and Pubbers – OH MY!

posted by: ShonBacon

TALE IT LIKE IT IS-SHON2

I recently talked – yet again – with author and TILII host Samara King about author branding and writing. This episode, we talked about the components of writing that are necessary in any story, self-editing, agents, publishers, and more. Definitely check it out. I am The Write Time reporters on TILII, so you can hear me on the show, usually the last 15-30 minutes of the show, talking about my top reading picks and some facet of writing. Click my LISTEN tab in order to see dates of TILII shows.

In the meantime, listen to last night’s show here:

New NaNo Mug

posted by: ShonBacon

It’s brown.  It’s blue.  It’s sexy.  And it holds coffee.  What more can you ask for, right?

Just received my NaNoWriMo mug in the mail today.  And though this surely means I will be making some coffee to try out my new baby, it also means that it’s time to do some WRITING again.

I wrote a little bit yesterday, but it’s time to get back into SERIOUS WRITER MODE.  I hope to have a finished rough draft of THE FIXER by Christmas.

That’s all I’m saying about that – weekly updates will air starting Monday – let’s hope my word meter (on the right hand side) goes up by then!

All the Blog’s a Page & ChickLitGurrl: high on LATTES & WRITING

posted by: ShonBacon

Two of my “claims to somewhat fame” are the blogs I run:  All the Blog’s a Page and ChickLitGurrl:  high on LATTES & WRITING.
ChickLitGurrl started in 2005 and was a way for me to talk with women writers that I enjoyed reading.  EVERY interview – nearly 60 – can be found on the blog on the right hand side, sectioned by year.  These women writers offer great insight into their writing process, advice on the industry, and more.  A new writer could EASILY go back to a 2005 interview and learn something that could help her/him on the literary journey.

All the Blog’s a Page is my new baby.  It started in August 2008, and it began on the premise that everything relates to writing.  Every month, a panel of authors respond to questions that deal with a specific subject; their task?  To connect that subject to writing.  In August, we looked at faith and writing, in September – sex and writing, in October – being male and writing, and this month, we’ve talked to women about how being female influences their writing.  In December, we’re looking at homosexuality and writing, and there are a slew of great topics coming up in ‘09, to include death, culture, TV, music, and teen life.  Every month’s panel (including their websites) can be found on the right hand side of the blog.

Take the time to check out both blogs, become readers/fans, and comment!

How does being FEMALE affect your WRITING?

posted by: ShonBacon

That’s essentially the question being asked for the month of November @ All the Blog’s a Page.

I asked four authors – Annette Marie Hyder, J.D. Mason, Annette Fix, and Sarah Weathersby to weigh in on this question, using their works, their passion for words to support their response.

Up first is freelance journalist/editor, artist, and author Annette Marie Hyder.

Come see what Annette thinks of being a female writer…and definitely come to add YOUR OPINION!
