NaNoWriMo – Day Two

posted by: ShonBacon

My goal for today was to break the 10k mark.

And I made my goal!

I don’t know WHERE my energy came from.

I woke up this morning and quickly jumped into the day. I finished cleaning the house, I washed clothes, and then I sat down to write for the afternoon.

I managed to get in several hour-long writing jags before politics and life stopped me cold and kept me from my creativity.

For a while now, I have managed to avoid all things politics. I knew who I planned to vote for and no debates, no commercials, no infomercials were going to sway me. Besides, I was OH SO TIRED of hearing the negative stuff – on both sides.

But today, my BFF and I talked, and she shared with me some of the pure insanity she’s been going through at work regarding politics, faith, race, and more – especially being the only Black…and really the only Democrat at her place of employment.

It left me drained. It left me sad. If left me wondering what our world will become in the future.

The only thing that helped to bring me out of that sadness was my writing, and so I shook off the pain, opened up the story again, and wrote.

And I cracked the 10k.

Final word count for today: 10,094

My goal for this week (through the 7th) is to reach 15,000 words – which means I need to write 1,000 words a day until the 7th.

With the election Tuesday, my emotions over that, the world’s emotions over that, school, grading assignments and prepping lectures, I think I might be able to find time to eke out 1,000 words a day.

Wish me luck!

Good luck sis. I can understand the state of the word putting a damper on your emotions. But just like you did you brushed your shoulders off and kept it moving.

Wow! Great word count for the past few days! :) I wish I could write like that, but slowly and surely is my style right now.

As for politics, I can’t wait for the election to be over as I’m tired of talking about it constantly. :)

Thanks, sis. I’m hoping I get a good word count the rest of this week. I know that Tuesday and Wednesday are going to be highly charged/emotional days; we’ll see what happens.

Kippras, thanks! I knew that I would have to write like a demon on the weekends because the weekdays always leave me SO unbelievably drained.

And as for politics, I – too – cannot WAIT for it to be over. I’m tired to DEATH because of it.
